Editorial policy

The rules we hold ourselves to, so you know what a Vetiver & Vale recommendation is worth — and what it is not.

Independence

Rankings are editorial and are never for sale. No brand can pay for a spot, a higher position, or a softer verdict. We accept no sponsored placements and no free bottles in exchange for coverage. The order of a roundup reflects our published scoring method applied the same way to every product — nothing else.

How affiliate links affect our picks

They do not affect ranking, and we design the site so they cannot. We earn commissions on most outbound buy links (see the affiliate disclosure), but the ranking is set before commercial considerations, and when a cheaper clone is the smarter buy than the designer original we say so and link to the clone — even when it earns us less. Buyer-first is the whole point; a recommendation you cannot trust is worthless to you and, eventually, to us.

Accuracy and sourcing

Every factual claim — a note pyramid, a launch year, a concentration, a comparison to a designer original — is traced to the manufacturer, the retailer, or a reputable community reference, and we cite our sources on the page. Prices are never asserted from memory; they render live or show "Check price." Where a scent's reputation outruns the evidence, or where a "dupe" is really just a similar vibe rather than a match, we say so plainly.

What we do not do

  • We do not claim hands-on lab testing, a trained nose, or a credential we do not hold.
  • We do not invent prices, ratings, review counts, or performance figures.
  • We do not link counterfeit fragrances that pretend to be a designer bottle.
  • We do not use fake urgency, countdown timers, or "lowest price ever" hype.

Corrections

We correct material factual errors promptly — usually within 48 hours of being told — and note the change on the affected page. Every page carries a visible last-updated date. If you spot something wrong, tell us.

Updates

Roundups are reviewed at least quarterly, single reviews at least annually, and annual "best of 2026" pages roll forward each year. Prices refresh continuously via the live data layer.
